Blade Runner Time Line Read online

Misidentification. The officer in question was referred for counselling by a Tyrell psychologist and placed on inactive status for an indefinite period. Eldon Tyrell later notated the officers records by hand as follows "No Blade Runner ceasing employment will be classed as retired, please use the term 'placed on inactive status for an indefinite period' instead".

  July 28 2011 - IRS Inspectors report irregularities on Tyrell Corps financial records. Losses are estimated at roughly 2 billion US dollars. Tyrell attributes the losses to "stolen spacecraft".

  August 2011 - Global Astronomers report record numbers of Solar Flares and sun spots.

  September 2013 - Dave Holden is hired by L.A.P.D.

  May 2014 - Rick Deckard is hired by L.A.P.D.

  June 2014 - CLASSIFIED: "Lost" Tyrell transport craft located near the moon. Analysis reveals its guidance systems had malfunctioned and the 2000 Nexus 4 occupants ceased to function when the life support systems failed. One sample was removed then the craft was aimed at the sun and pushed off by the intercepting vehicle. The Nexus 4 sample was examined by Tyrell technicians then placed into its reserved place in the cold storage archive. Eldon Tyrell made bonus payments of $100,000 (US) to all involved in the operation from his own private account.

  September 2014 - Harry Bryant is promoted to Chief Inspector of the Replicant Detection Division. (Blade Runners)

  October 2014 - Dave Holden becomes a Blade Runner.

  March 2015 - Rick Deckard becomes a Blade Runner.

  April 2015 - Nexus 6 units begin production. CLASSIFIED: First unit run is never released due to unspecified design problems. They are retired on the Tyrell production floor by Battys Brigade.

  May 2015 - CLASSIFIED: Report from J. F. Sebastian, design problems deemed to be solved. Authorization to restart production is given.

  July 1 2015 - CLASSIFIED: Final Nexus 5 model ceases to function. It is shipped back to Tyrell HQ for analysis then placed into the cold storage archive.

  7 January 2016 - CLASSIFIED: During a regular security patrol by Battys Brigade, Captain Roy Batty recognizes his own likeness in the Replicant production area. 11 Batty units are destroyed by him leaving only 1 in the batch to achieve eventual inception. Captain Battys employment contract is terminated, he goes Off-world to continue his mercenary career.

  8 January 2016 Replicant Roy Batty "born"

  14 February 2016 - Replicant Pris "born".

  12 June 2016 - Replicant Zhora "born".

  January 2017 - Gaff hired by L.A.P.D.

  February 2017 - Using Nexus 6 designs prototype Nexus models are tested with memory reinforcement and emotional algorithms, no model number is allocated to these new units. It is never stated on any official documents how many models are tested or how long they are designed to last. All work is personally performed by Doctor Eldon Tyrell himself only.

  March 2017 - CLASSIFIED: Eldon Tyrell uses his private funds to personally create genetic prototypes, these are not thought to be Nexus based designs. As no samples are requested it is assumed he is using his own DNA as a template. The only records pertaining to this work is later located on an encrypted section of the Tyrell mainframe.

  10 April 2017 - Replicant Leon "born".

  26 May 2017 - Replicant Rachael "born".

  2019 - Eldon Tyrell is murdered by rogue Nexus 6 unit Roy Batty.

  Authors notes.

  This is a look into the the universe of Blade Runner. Obviously Replicants have, as yet, not been created so we can think of that universe as an alternate one. With the original book and movie we are more than aware of what happens in the latter years of Dr Eldon Tyrell and The Tyrell Corporation.

  What I have done here is attempt to create a background for the good Doctor and his company. I was surprised to find there were no details of his life or of the creation of Tyrell Corps. Hopefully there are no inconsistencies.

  I have created his parents and brother as well as his life story from birth to death with the origins of the company thrown in for good measure as well as details of the development of the Nexus series. The incept or "birth" dates of the various Replicants are shown in the movie and were easily Googled.

  Originally I started doing the time line to act as research to write an ordinary story which was intended to be about the formation of the Blade Runner Unit and the first Nexus unit to go rogue. As the time line developed, it acquired such detail that I decided to present the story in a different way and just use the time line itself to tell the story of the life of Eldon Tyrell and the Nexus series.

  At some future time I may choose to write the story I originally intended to write here.
